The demonstration led to the suspension of academic activities for one week, leaving the campus temporarily closed.

On Monday morning, the campus of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic witnessed a wave of protests as students expressed their discontent with the recent increase in acceptance fees for newly admitted students. The demonstrators were driven by concerns that the higher fees were becoming a burden, particularly for new entrants. Their sentiments were conveyed through placards bearing slogans such as "No To Increment of Tuition Fee," "Rector Must Go," and "Release our Results ASAP," among others.

The decision to raise the acceptance fee from N35,000 to N50,500 had stirred resentment among the student body. The students voiced their grievances, demanding transparency and affordability in their educational pursuits. In response to the escalating situation, the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, led by the Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Elewodalu, took the decision to suspend academic activities temporarily. The closure, effective from Monday, October 9, to Friday, October 13, 2023, was aimed at addressing the prevailing circumstances within the polytechnic.

While the fee hike issue was at the forefront of the protest, students also voiced concerns about the delay in the release of their academic results. This delay was affecting their academic planning, as many remained unaware of their academic standing and their preparedness for upcoming exams. The protest highlighted the need for efficient administrative processes and clear communication between the institution and its students.
