A lady suspected to be a student of a polytechnic in Delta State has attempted suicide by jumping from the Oghara-Benin Bridge into the river.

PUNCH Metro gathered that a traveller and his friend were returning from Benin when they saw the student jump from the bridge into the river.

 They were said to have parked on top of the bridge and raised the alarm.

Some locals under the bridge jumped into the river and headed for the point the lady fell into.

 The motorists also reportedly called the Divisional Police Officer, Oghara, who mobilised men to the scene.

It was gathered that the undergraduate was rescued alive and rushed to the Oghara Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

However, the reason for the lady’s action could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
