Tai Solarin University of Education Suspends Exams After Student's Killing

The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has suspended the ongoing second-semester examinations following the killing of a student.

A final-year student, Ahmed Ayinla Fabiyi, from the History and Diplomatic Studies department, was reportedly killed by suspected cultists on Wednesday. According to reports, Fabiyi was dragged out of the examination hall, beaten, and macheted to death by the attackers.

In a statement released on Thursday, Deputy Registrar Babatunde Odugbesan announced the indefinite suspension of all examinations previously scheduled for Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, 2024.

"The university management has directed the suspension of all examinations previously scheduled for Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, 2024, until further notice. Meanwhile, students are assured of their safety and are advised to remain calm while investigations are ongoing to get to the root of the cultist attack on a student on campus. Please note and be guided accordingly. Management will issue further notices on the resumption of examinations," the statement read.

The university has assured students of their safety and urged them to remain calm as investigations continue. Further updates on the resumption of exams will be provided by the management.
