Tansian University Student Breaks Academic Record with Highest GPA in Nigeria

Oluchi Anthonia Umeaso, a graduate from Tansian University's Department of Microbiology, has achieved an unprecedented academic milestone by graduating with a final grade point average of 4.96 on a 5.0 scale. This achievement, highlighted in a press release from the university, marks her as the top student in the institution's history, celebrated during the 7th to 12th convocation ceremony at the Umunya Campus in Anambra State.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Eugene Nwadialor expressed his pride in Umeaso's accomplishment, noting the rarity of such high academic performance in Nigerian universities. The Chancellor, Sen. Dr. Victor Umeh, attributed her success to her dedication and encouraged her to continue representing the university well.
Associate Professor Nnamdi Umeoduagu, Head of the Department of Microbiology, also commended Umeaso, urging current students to follow her example. In her valedictory speech, Umeaso emphasized the importance of education and thanked her parents, the university staff, and her lecturers for their support.
Umeaso's academic excellence was further recognized with tangible rewards. Chief Emmanuel ‘Bishop’ Okonkwo awarded her a scholarship for a Master's degree at any university in the UK, Canada, or the USA, while Sir Kingsley Udechukwu presented her with a one million Naira cheque.
