TeCETEL Completes Sensitization Workshop for Federal University of Education Zaria Staff
The workshop, aimed at promoting best practices in academic writing, focused on plagiarism avoidance and was attended by management staff, heads of departments, examination officers, project coordinators, supervisors, and students.
A 3-day sensitization workshop was conducted by the TetFUND Centre of Excellence for Technology Enhanced Learning (TeCETEL) at the Federal University of Education, Zaria, from 19th to 21st November 2024.
The workshop, aimed at promoting best practices in academic writing, focused on plagiarism avoidance and was attended by management staff, heads of departments, examination officers, project coordinators, supervisors, and students.
The Director of TeCETEL, Dr. Ajibola Ilesanmi, along with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mallam Yussuf Yakubu, delivered presentations on plagiarism checking. Dr. Yahuza Salmanu, Communication and Documentation Officer of TeCETEL, highlighted the importance of editing in academic work.
Dr. Ilesanmi defined plagiarism as using someone else's work or ideas without proper acknowledgment and discussed strategies for preventing it. He also demonstrated how to access the TeCETEL project submission portal for plagiarism checks.
Key organizers of the event included Dr. Ramatu Nuru Asabe, Deputy Director of TeCETEL; Dr. Zubairu Ahmed, Research Officer I; Barrister Saminu A. Muhammad, Administrative Officer; and other staff members of the Centre. The final day of the workshop was facilitated by Dr. Mrs. Adejo and Mrs. Areo.
