TETFund Suspends Foreign Component of Scholarship for Academic Staff

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced the suspension of the foreign component of its Scholarship for Academic Staff (TSAS) intervention, effective January 1, 2025. This decision comes in response to the rising cost of training in foreign institutions and the high rate of abscondment among scholars.

TETFund has advised beneficiary institutions to prioritize local training within Nigerian institutions to help conserve foreign exchange, strengthen local capacity, and increase the number of beneficiaries.

Scholars who are already enrolled in foreign institutions will continue to receive their funding until the completion of their respective programs. Institutions have been instructed to inform their staff about this change and ensure compliance with the new policy.
