Twin Sisters LaTonya and LaToya Harris Shine as Best Graduating Students, Achieve Masters and PhD in Medicine Simultaneously

In an extraordinary feat, twin sisters, LaTonya and LaToya Harris, have emerged as the top-performing graduates of Parker University in Dallas, United States, earning both their master’s and PhD degrees in Medicine concurrently.

Born in Texas, the Harris sisters achieved their second master’s degrees in Clinical Nutrition and their doctorate degrees in Chiropractic Medicine at Parker University. Their academic journey, marked by excellence, began with their graduation as Salutatorian and Valedictorian in 2010 from high school. Subsequently, they pursued and completed their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Sports Management at the University of Texas, Austin.

In an interview with Because Of Them We Can, the sisters expressed their close bond and shared aspirations, emphasizing their shared journey of accomplishments. "We don’t recall a time when we haven’t liked the same things. Our parents always left the decision up to us. They always wanted us to do what we wanted, and they never forced us to do anything the same," they mentioned.

Reflecting on their unique journey, LaTonya and LaToya embraced the challenges and affirmed their belief that everything happened as part of a divine plan. "We both agree that we wouldn’t change anything about our journey because we understand that God planned it to happen exactly as it has, even if we didn’t," they added.

The sisters see themselves as constant companions, supporting and celebrating each other's achievements. "Your best friend gets to come to work with you every day. We are more efficient because we already know what each other is thinking. We can just look at each other and know what needs to be said or done next. We make one another so much better," they shared.

Looking ahead, their ultimate goal is to establish their own clinic and create a scholarship for individuals of color pursuing careers in the medical field. They envision contributing to changing the narrative of healthcare and expressed a strong desire to work together to make a positive impact.
