The University College Hospital has held a joint matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students of the Primary Health Care Tutors’ Course and Environmental Health Officers Tutors’ Course for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ceremony, organised by the Federal Training Centre for Teachers of Health Sciences, UCH, which is affiliated with the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, took place on April 2, 2026.

In his matriculation address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Patrick Olanrewaju Osho, described the postgraduate programme as a product of deliberate planning, rigorous academic alignment, and a commitment to excellence.

He urged the matriculating students to approach their academic journey with discipline, focus, and intentionality, encouraging them to fully utilise the institution’s academic resources, experienced faculty, and structured learning environment. He also charged them to remain committed so as to graduate as professionals distinguished in both character and competence.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of UCH, Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, said the programme is designed not only to equip participants with knowledge but to prepare them as trainers, mentors, and custodians of quality health education.

According to him, the trainees are being positioned to play critical roles in strengthening healthcare delivery, particularly at the grassroots level, where the need for skilled health educators remains significant.

Otegbayo advised the students to uphold discipline, professionalism, and integrity throughout their training, while maximising the opportunities provided within the hospital’s learning environment. He emphasised that the broader objective of the programme is to advance service to humanity through the delivery of quality health education.
