UDUS Holds 41st Inaugural Lecture on Cryptocurrency
The second generation university established in September 1975, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) organized her 41st inaugural lecture in the evening of Thursday, May 16, 2024 at the university's auditorium.

Prof Malami Muhammad Maishanu, a professor of finance from the faculty of management sciences delivered the lecture on: Unveiling the Digital Revolution: Cryptocurrency, Blockchain, and the Future of Finance.
The intriguing lecture which marked the third inaugural lecture from professors of the faculty of management sciences was graced by several dignitaries of the university and beyond.
At the program, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Lawal Suleiman Bilbis was ably represented by Prof Yusuf Saidu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Development.
Prof Maishanu maintained that Nigeria has the highest number of cryptocurrency in Sub-Saharan Africa. He encouraged investment in cryptocurrency, blockchain and tech at large.
Also, Prof Maishanu emphasized extensively the future of cryptocurrency, its impact on the economy, its challenges and the way forward. He highlighted how the Nigerian government can control cryptocurrency instead of total restrictions.
During the course of his presentation, he clarified that cryptocurrency is not yahoo yahoo. He also gave guidelines to universities on how they can generate revenue through cryptocurrency and blockchain.
