The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan (UI) has inducted 90 new veterinary doctors as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan (UI) has inducted 90 new veterinary doctors as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations.

The event, themed “Sixty Years of Veterinary Education, Goals, Gains and Gaps,” was held at the faculty’s auditorium in conjunction with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN).

Dr. Adebanji Adeniyi, the induction lecturer and awardee, emphasized the importance of professionalism and ethics in veterinary medical practice. Prof. Basil Ikede, the first graduate of the faculty in 1967, congratulated the faculty on its achievements in training veterinarians who have significantly contributed to research and education. He encouraged the new inductees to be confident in their profession and to carry the title “Doctor” with pride and humility.

Prof. Olufunke Ola-Davies, the dean of the faculty, urged the inductees to uphold the values of the profession and serve as worthy ambassadors. She highlighted that the faculty was operating under interim accreditation when she took over but achieved full accreditation from the National University Commission (NUC) shortly after she assumed leadership.
