Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic Sokoto (UASPS) has taken a groundbreaking step in embracing cutting-edge technology, becoming the first institution in northwest Nigeria to pioneer the conversion of petroleum vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG).

Rector Malam Aliyu Balarabe sponsored four staff members for a one-week training at Portland Gas Limited in Abuja, equipping them with expertise in CNG technology.

This strategic move positions UASPS as a hub for technological innovation and energy solutions in the region. The polytechnic is poised to manage and implement this modern technology, potentially overseeing a CNG center in the northwest.

"The training is a significant milestone in our institution's history," Rector Balarabe said. "We're committed to driving technological advancement and sustainable energy solutions."
