The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), in affiliation with the University of Benin and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has released the approved Post-Graduate and Post-Graduate Diploma programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session, Myschoolnews report.

1. Post-Graduate Programmes

  1. MASTERS IN PARLIAMENTARY ADMINISTRATION;
    1. MASTERS IN LEGISLATIVE STUDIES;
    2. MASTERS IN LAWS (LL.M), LEGISLATIVE DRAFTING;
    3. MASTERS IN ELECTIONS AND PARTY POLITICS;
    4. MASTERS IN CONSTITUTIONAL LAW AND DEVELOPMENT;

POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ELECTIONS AND POLITICAL PARTY MANAGEMENT;

  1. POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LEGISLATIVE DRAFTING;
  2. POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN PARLIAMENTARY ADMINISTRATION; AND
  3. POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LEGISLATIVE STUDIES.

1.2 HND Programmes

1.3. Admission Requirements

1.3.1. Masters Programmes

To be eligible for admission into the Masters’ Programmes, a prospective candidate must have:

  1. At least 5 ‘O’ Level Credits, including English Language and other relevant subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
    1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant areas from recognized university with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
    1. 3rd Class Degree holders must possess Post Graduate Diploma to be considered for admission.
    1. a holder of Post Graduate Diploma in relevant areas from a recognized institution.

1.3.2 Post Graduate Diploma Programmes

To be eligible for admission into the Post-Graduate Diploma Programmes, a prospective candidate must have:

  1. At least 5 ‘O’ Level Credits, including English Language and other relevant subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
  2. University Degree in relevant areas from recognized university with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) for backgrounds not closely related.
  3. Holder of Bachelor’s Degree, not below a 3rd Class Division in the areas of Law, Social Sciences, History, International Relations and Philosophy from a recognized University; and
  4. Higher National Diploma (HND) from recognized institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit.

Applicants for Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) must possess NYSC discharge/exclusion/exemption certificate.

1.3.3 Higher National Diploma Programmes 

To be eligible for admission into the Higher National Diploma Programmes, a prospective candidate must have:

  1. Parliamentary Administration /Public Administration:
  2. At least 5 O’ Level Credits, including English Language and other relevant subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
  3. A National Diploma in the following relevant areas: Public Administration, Local Government Administration, Business Administration and Management, Paralegal Studies, Office Technology & Management/ Secretarial Studies, Computer Science, Accountancy, Mass Communication, and Labour & Industrial Relations from recognized Polytechnic.
  4. A minimum of 2.5 on Four-Points scale and completed at least one year post-ND cognate working experience.
  5. Degree and HND certificates from universities and polytechnics approved by the National Universities Commission and NBTE are also acceptable.
  • Official Reporting:
  • At least 5 ‘O’ Level Credits, including English Language and other relevant subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
  • A National Diploma in the following relevant areas:  Official Reporting, Library and Information Sciences, Office Technology & Management (Secretarial Studies), Computer Science and Mass Communication from recognized Polytechnic.
  • A minimum of 2.5 on Four-Points scale and completed at least one year post-ND cognate working experience.
  • Degree and HND certificates from universities and polytechnics approved by National Universities Commission and NBTE are also acceptable.
