The University of Calabar (UNICAL) Vice-Chancellor has Called for Synergy Between Universities, Alumni Associations
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi has called for synergy between Universities and their Alumni Associations, saying no University can run solely on government funding, Myschoolnews.ng report.
Prof. Obi said this when the University of Calabar Theatre Arts Alumni Association, UCTAAA (OC-TAA), paid a courtesy call on her office, to give back to the institution, as part of activities lined up for its 2022 Homecoming.
While noting that Theatre Arts Students are unique people in their own right, the Unical VC pledged her support to all Unical Alumni across the world.
Prof. Obi added that she was happy with what was happening with the Alumni in Unical.
Also Speaking, the Global President of UCTAAA, Rita Amuchenwa said the reunion was prompted by the need to give back, as she called on other Unical Theatre Arts Alumnus to join the association.
Others who attended the courtesy call as members of UCTAAA include, the State Commissioner of Tourism, Eric Anderson; the Chief Executive Officer of Hitfm, Patrick Ugbe; Head of Department, Theatre and Media Studies, Betiang Liwhu, UCTAAA Global Vice President, Raymond Obaji; Choreographer and Arthur, Arnold Udoka, Academics amongst others.
The Unical Theatre Arts Alumni Association also donated a 16KVA Diesel Generator for powering the New Arts Theatre, NAT.
