Professor Simon Ogbeche Odey has emerged as the new Dean of Faculty of Engineering, University of Cross River State, Calabar.

He was elected in a Deanship Election conducted by the University management on July 19, 2024 at the faculty of Engineering Conference Room, UNICROSS.
Engr. Professor Simon Ogbeche Odey, who was a two-time Sub Dean of the faculty of Engineering and a former two-time Head of Department of Wood Products Engineering, and currently the Deputy Director of Research and Development, UNICROSS, thank the Lord Almighty for granting him this rare privilege. He expressed his unreserved appreciation to all the faculty members and the university management for the confidence repose in him.
Engr. Prof. Simon Ogbeche Odey Promised to build on the foundation laid by the past deans, especially the outgoing Dean, Engr. Prof. Eko James Akpama, who he has worked with as the Sub Dean.

He promised to work closely with the management to open more engineering programmes and departments in the faculty. He promised to work towards improving the faculty welfare programme, and operate an open door policy, where the genuine views of all faculty members from the Graduate Assistants to the Professors would be attended to.
He further stated that the faculty shall work towards training all members on OBE Program, to ensure that all departments are ready for the upcoming COREN accreditation, ensuring that all departments in the faculty are up to date on the new CCMAS curriculum. He noted that his administration shall witness improved academic activities towards making the faculty the ‘hall mark’ of research in the university.

He called on all the faculty members to corporate with him in his drive to lift the faculty to greater heights.
