The University of Cross River State, Calabar (UNICROSS) has launched a search for a new Registrar, inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill this critical administrative role.

The announcement, published in the Vanguard newspaper on September 4, 2025, marks a significant step toward strengthening the university’s governance structure.

The Registrar will serve as the Chief Administrative Officer, reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day administrative operations, acting as Secretary to the University Senate, Congregation, and Governing Council, and performing other duties as directed by the Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience 

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of a Second Class Lower (2:2) degree, with at least fifteen (15) years of cognate experience, including five (5) years in administrative positions within a university or similar institution.
  • Membership in a recognized professional body is required.
  • Candidates must not exceed sixty (60) years of age upon assumption of duty.
  • Essential attributes include:
  • Be a person of proven integrity and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have a grasp of information and communication technology skills.
  • Be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the office.
  • Demonstrate competence and a meritorious service record.

Tenure and Remuneration: The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years. The successful candidate will be entitled to the salary and other benefits approved for the post of Registrar in Nigerian Public Universities, as determined from time to time by the University’s Governing Council.

Conditions and Age Limit: Candidates should not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar in a university or comparable institution and must not be more than sixty (60) years old upon assumption of duties.
