UNIDEL Open to Partnership, VC Tells Ika South and Ika North East LGAs
As part of his familiarisation tour, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delta, Agbor, Prof. Eric Eboh paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairmen of Ika South and Ika North East local governments on Thursday, 11 June, 2026.
Addressing the Executive Chairman, Hon. Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior and some members of the executive and legislative arms of Ika South LGA, they Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation for the Chairman’s warm reception.
He commended Hon. Engr. Ehiwarior and his team, as well as the heads of units, for the achievements recorded in Ika South LGA, noting that the Council’s progress was clear proof that hard work pays.
He assured the Chairman that UNIDEL was ready and willing to partner with the Council in developmental strides. He emphasized that the University was committed to achieving its three core mandates: teaching, research, and community service through the Project RAISE UNIDEL Higher.

In his response, Hon. Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior expressed confidence that UNIDEL would grow rapidly under the administration of Prof. Eric Eboh, while recalling the successes of the Prof. Eboh as the Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer & Head of Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau.
He commended VC for distinguishing himself through purposeful leadership, and assured the Vice-Chancellor of the Council’s full support to work together as one team for the progress of both institutions.
Similarly, at the Ika North East Local Government Council, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Eboh, expressed gratitude for the audience accorded him and his entourage, and thanked the Chairman for taking time to accommodate the University team.
He stated that the purpose of the visit was to give honour to whom honour was due, and noted that Ika North East hosts Owa Oyibo and Owa Alero campuses of the University and affirmed the readiness of UNIDEL to partner with Ika North East Local Government Council.
Prof. Eric Eboh outlined the University’s mission to “Raise UNIDEL Higher,” building on the strong foundation inherited from the pioneer Vice-Chancellor. He expressed confidence that both institutions would collaborate to take the University to greater heights and contribute to the continued growth of Ika North East.
In his response, the Council Chairman Hon. Monday Hunkamma Odigwe congratulated Prof. Eric Eboh on his new appointment. He expressed optimism about the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership, noting that he was confident Prof. Eboh would surpass the achievements of the pioneer Vice-Chancellor. He stated that he had heard about the “RAISE UNIDEL Higher” agenda and believed the Vice-Chancellor would deliver fully.
He commended Prof. Eboh’s compassionate leadership and commitment to people’s welfare, and assured him of the Council’s support and guaranteed security.
In the Vice-Chancellor's entourage were the Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Esther Akpojuvie; the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Oyemaechi Ugboh ; alongside the media team and some other staff of the University.
