UNILAG Alumnus Fola David Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Art Drawing
Dr. Gbadamosi Adefemi David, known as Fola David, has achieved a Guinness World Record for the Largest Art Drawing. His record-setting artwork, which displays the map of Nigeria and its diverse cultures, was completed between July 16 and July 21, 2024.
Dr. Gbadamosi Adefemi David, known as Fola David, has set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Art Drawing. The monumental achievement was celebrated by the College of Medicine University of Lagos (CMUL), his alma mater, on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Fola David's record-setting artwork, which began on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and concluded on Sunday, July 21, 2024, measures as the largest drawing ever created by an individual. The colossal piece, showcasing the map of Nigeria and its diverse tribes and cultures, exemplifies the power of art in fostering national unity and pride.
The CMUL management, including College Secretary Dr. Olayinka Obafemi-Moses and Director of Students’ Affairs Professor Olufemi Fasanmade, visited Fola David during the project to offer their support and admiration. They praised his dedication and artistic prowess, highlighting the significance of his endeavor in promoting national cohesion through art.
“Fola David’s incredible achievement is a tribute to Nigeria’s unity in diversity,” said Dr. Obafemi-Moses. Professor Fasanmade noted, “His success serves as an inspiration for our current students to surpass their own limits and take pride in their alma mater.”

In recognition of his landmark achievement, CMUL awarded Fola David a plaque of excellence and an honorary sash, celebrating his remarkable contribution to the world of art.
