The university's management clarified that its regulations strictly prohibit the use of fines as penalties for any form of misconduct, including issues like sexual harassment.

According to the statement issued by the UNILAG Communication Unit on July 3, 2024, all cases of social misconduct are handled through established guidelines and sanctions outlined in the university's official handbooks. These regulations are readily accessible to all students, ensuring transparency and fair treatment in disciplinary matters.

The university emphasized that student associations or clubs do not possess the authority to adjudicate on matters related to academic or social misconduct. Instead, such cases are addressed exclusively by the Students Disciplinary Board, ensuring adherence to due process and fairness.
