UNILAG Consult Begins Registration for Universal Treatment Curriculum on Substance Use Disorder
UNILAG Consult Ltd, in collaboration with Sound Mind Initiative and the Colombo Plan-Drug Advisory Programme, has begun registration for a 12-month Universal Treatment Curriculum for Substance Use Disorder.

The University of Lagos Consultancy Services Limited (UNILAG Consult Ltd), in collaboration with Sound Mind Initiative and the Colombo Plan-Drug Advisory Programme, has commenced registration for a 12-month Universal Treatment Curriculum for Substance Use Disorder. The registration process is set to close on Monday, April 14, 2025, while classes are scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
The training is designed with a structured curriculum comprising eight modules, spanning six months of theoretical instruction followed by two months of practical guided internships. Participants will engage in trainer-led presentations, small-group discussions, creative learner-directed activities, reflective writing exercises, and periodic reviews to ensure knowledge retention. The course aims to equip professionals with essential skills in handling substance use disorders effectively.
Eligible participants include mental health practitioners, medical students, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, psychology students, NDLEA officials, officers in correctional and rehabilitation homes, and members of the general public with a minimum qualification of HND, B.A, or B.Sc.
The methodology involves a blend of training, fieldwork, and internships supervised by experienced professionals. The program is divided into four parts, culminating in examinations and certifications. Upon completion, participants will receive:

A hard copy of the participant’s manual for each curriculum, consisting of over 300 pages of material and reference documents (a total of nine manuals).

Four completion certificates detailing topics and modules covered, featuring the logos of Colombo Plan, UNILAG Consult, and Sound Mind Initiative.

An opportunity to sit for an international credentialing examination conducted online by the Global Center for Credentialing and Certification (GCCC). Successful candidates will earn the International Credential for Addiction Professionals (ICAP), recognized across major countries, including those in West Africa.
