UNILAG Faculty of Law 2007 Alumni Refurbishes Students’ Lounge
The 2007 Alumni set of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos (UNILAG), has refurbished the Faculty’s Students’ Lounge as a gesture of gratitude to their alma mater and faculty members. At the commissioning ceremony on March 4, 2025, alumni members shared fond memories of their student years and emphasized the lifelong professional bonds they formed.

The 2007 Alumni set of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos (UNILAG), has reaffirmed its commitment to the institution by refurbishing the Faculty’s Students’ Lounge, providing a renewed space for students to engage in academic and social activities.
At the commissioning ceremony held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the alumni members expressed their appreciation for the tutelage, mentoring, and leadership they received during their time at the institution. They described the refurbishment as a token of gratitude to their alma mater and past and present faculty members.
Speaking at the event, members of the 2007 Law class fondly recalled their studentship, memorable encounters with faculty members, and the lifelong bonds they have maintained. Olawale Fapounda, Esq., emphasized that being an alumnus of the UNILAG Faculty of Law remains a defining attribute in their professional lives, shaping their careers and interactions.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Abiola Sanni, SAN, lauded the alumni for their generous contribution, describing the refurbished lounge as a significant step toward enhancing student welfare. He assured the alumni that the facility would be well maintained and optimized for student use.
The National President of UNILAG Alumni Worldwide, Engineer Ifeoluwa Oyedele, FNSE, who served as the Guest of Honour, also commended the initiative. He urged other alumni associations to follow the example of the 2007 Law class in fostering strong ties between institutions and their former students to enhance learning conditions.
To mark the official reopening of the lounge, Professor Gbenga Akingbeyin of the Department of Public Law performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony on behalf of the faculty. The event underscored the importance of alumni engagement in the continuous development of educational institutions, reinforcing the Faculty of Law’s longstanding tradition of excellence and collaboration.
The refurbishment of the lounge is expected to provide a conducive environment for students, reflecting the alumni’s enduring connection to their alma mater and their dedication to future generations of legal scholars.
