The session emphasized the critical role Arabic manuscripts play in documenting West African history and Islamic thought. Students were given rare access to original manuscript samples, performing supervised exercises to resolve issues of illegibility and historical inaccuracies.

The departmental leadership noted that the trip was essential for equipping future researchers with the "forensic" skills needed to curate and interpret primary source materials.
