UNILORIN Vice Chancellor Urges Foreign Students to Promote University Globally

Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), has urged the institution’s foreign students to positively represent the university in their home countries and beyond. This appeal was made during a recent visit by students from the Linguistics Immersion Centre to his office.

Prof. Egbewole emphasized the crucial role these students play as ambassadors of UNILORIN and assured them of his ongoing support. He expressed a strong desire to see them return for their degree and postgraduate programs and encouraged them to help attract prospective students from their countries by highlighting the university’s achievements.

Addressing the challenges faced by these students, Prof. Egbewole acknowledged that these experiences have significantly contributed to their personal and academic development. He noted that overcoming such obstacles has not only enhanced their resilience but also equipped them with valuable problem-solving and adaptability skills. To prevent future difficulties, he urged the Linguistics Immersion Centre’s leadership to implement preventive measures.

He also praised the Director and facilitators of the Centre for their dedication.

Earlier, Prof. Yusuf Lanre Badmus, Director of the Linguistics Immersion Centre, expressed his gratitude to Prof. Egbewole for revitalizing the Centre. He credited the Vice Chancellor’s visionary leadership for the Centre’s recent success and outlined plans to further promote UNILORIN’s programs in Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali, Chad, and other African nations. The Centre has already seen increased interest from students in these countries.

During the visit, Mr. Osseni Olouwatoyin Mouyasir from the Republic of Benin praised the university’s training programs, noting that the language training provided has made international students bilingual. Miss Aken Comfort Api from Cameroon also expressed gratitude on behalf of the international students for the warm reception and the opportunity to celebrate Eid-l-Kabir in Nigeria.
