UNILORIN Wins North-Central Championship in National Values Charter Debate
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) emerged as the North-Central champion of the 7 for 7 National Values Charter Campus Debate, earning ₦5 million and advancing to the grand finale.
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has been crowned the North-Central champion of the 7 for 7 National Values Charter Campus Debate, securing a cash prize of ₦5 million. The event, organized by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) as part of the National Identity Project (NIP), was held on November 28 at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Team UNILORIN was represented by Tivlumun Sesugh Alexander, a third-year student from the Department of Information Technology, and Olafisoye Tolulope Alexander, a final-year student of Common Law. Their exceptional arguments and eloquence earned them the top spot, ensuring their advancement to the national grand finale.
The debate included capacity-building sessions centered on patriotism, leadership, and national unity. The initiative aims to inspire Nigerian youth to embrace civic responsibility, uphold national values, and foster a spirit of collaboration between government aspirations and citizen contributions.
Speaking after the victory, a member of Team UNILORIN expressed gratitude for the platform: "This debate has not only sharpened our intellectual skills but also deepened our understanding of the values that unite us as Nigerians."
