UNIMAID Senate Approves Course Review, Introduction of New Courses, and Departmental Nomenclature Change
The Senate of the University of Maiduguri convened on Thursday, December 21, 2023, and ratified crucial academic decisions that will significantly impact the institution's academic landscape.

During its 308th meeting held on July 27, 2023, the Senate approved a series of pivotal changes:
1. Review of Courses:
The Senate endorsed the comprehensive review of existing courses across various departments within the Faculty of Arts. This step aims to enhance curriculum relevance, align with contemporary standards, and elevate the quality of education offered at the university.

2. Introduction of New Courses:
In line with evolving academic demands and to broaden the scope of learning, the Senate greenlit the introduction of new courses. This strategic move seeks to diversify academic offerings and cater to emerging fields and industry requirements.
3. Modification of Departmental Nomenclature:
A substantial decision was made to modify the nomenclature of a department. The Department's name has been transformed to reflect its widened focus and objectives, now known as the Department of History and Strategic Studies.
