UNIOSUN Don Emphasizes Global Collaborative Efforts for Educational Systems

Professor Florence Adeoti Yusuf, Provost of the College of Education at Osun State University, has called for collaborative efforts to address the global challenges facing educational systems. Speaking at the 2024 International Conference on Education hosted by the College of Education, Professor Yusuf highlighted the importance of bringing together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to facilitate meaningful dialogue, exchange ideas, and forge partnerships aimed at achieving sustainable and equitable education worldwide.

The conference, themed ‘Our World is Our Effort: Achieving Sustainable Educational Development through Partnerships,’ gathered educators, stakeholders, and participants from across Nigeria. It provided a platform to share knowledge, ideas, and best practices, with a focus on future collaborations to shape education both in Nigeria and globally.

In his remarks, Professor Clement Odunayo Adebooye, Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, emphasized the significance of inter-university collaborations to enhance teaching and research, and partnerships with industries to produce skilled graduates. Represented by Professor Adetunji Lawrence Kehinde, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (ARIP), Adebooye praised the conference theme for its relevance.

The lead paper presenter, Dr. Elyse M. Connors from Western Michigan University, USA, focused on inclusive and sustainable education for blind and visually impaired students. Meanwhile, Professor Olanrewaju Ademola Olaniyan, Vice-Chancellor of Emmanuel Alayande University, Oyo, delivered a keynote address on the necessity for stakeholder partnerships to revitalize Nigeria’s educational system.

Ms. Nor Nazeranah Haji Omar Din from Nilai University, Malaysia, delivered the second keynote address, discussing inclusive education, sustainable development goals, and the importance of partnerships in achieving quality education in Nigeria.

The conference also featured the presentation of a distinguished award to Senator Dr. Kamorudeen Olalere Oyewumi for his significant contributions to societal growth and commitment to supporting education. He was honored for his efforts in Adult Education and Community Development and pledged further support for the College of Education’s initiatives.

The event was chaired by the Osun State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Adedipo Sunday Eluwole. The state First Lady, Mrs. Titilola Adeleke, was represented by Dr. Balikis Akinleye, who reiterated her commitment to supporting educational growth in the state.
