The University of Port Harcourt has announced the commencement of its Post-UTME and Direct Entry admission screening exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session.

According to the university, the application portal will open on Friday, May 15, 2026, and close on Friday, May 29, 2026. Candidates are expected to complete their registration strictly within this period, as late applications will not be considered.

The institution stated that only candidates who selected the university as their first choice in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 160 are eligible to apply.

It further directed second-choice candidates to first change their institution choice to the University of Port Harcourt on the JAMB platform before proceeding with registration.

The university also emphasized that applicants must be at least 16 years of age by September 30, 2026, to qualify for admission consideration.

Key Registration and Eligibility Guidelines

The university outlined the following requirements for prospective candidates:

  • Registration period: May 15 – May 29, 2026
  • Minimum UTME score: 160
  • Institution must be first choice (after change of institution where applicable)
  • Age requirement: 16 years and above by September 30, 2026
  • Candidates must ensure O’Level results are uploaded on the JAMB CAPS portal
  • Applicants must use valid personal phone numbers and email addresses

Important Instructions for Candidates

The institution warned that the registration portal will automatically close at midnight on May 29, 2026, after which no further access will be granted.

It also stated that candidates will not be required to be physically present on campus during registration, as the process is strictly online.

The university cautioned that mobile phones, electronic gadgets, and other prohibited items will not be allowed at the screening venue when examinations are eventually scheduled.

It further directed candidates to monitor the university website regularly for updates on screening dates and venues, noting that failure to attend scheduled screenings may lead to disqualification.

The university also barred parents, guardians, and unauthorized individuals from accessing the campus during the screening exercise.

Candidates were advised to follow all instructions carefully to avoid disqualification and ensure successful participation in the admission process.
