The University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) has commissioned a 3.5KVA solar power system for the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS), marking another milestone in the institution’s drive for sustainable energy solutions.

The University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT) has commissioned a 3.5KVA solar power system for the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS), marking another milestone in the institution’s drive for sustainable energy solutions.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Solomon Tamarabrakemi Ebobrah, commended the faculty and its Dean, Professor Francis Sikoki, for their initiative. He noted that FBAS has consistently set the standard for other faculties, stressing that leadership within an academic community is a collective responsibility.

He encouraged other faculties to emulate FBAS by finding innovative ways to strengthen the university’s academic and research environment. The Vice Chancellor further assured that the university would provide support if there is a need to expand the capacity of the solar system.

In his remarks, Professor Sikoki expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for honoring the faculty’s invitation, highlighting that this was his fourth visit to FBAS. He emphasized the importance of the solar installation in meeting the faculty’s high energy demands for research activities.

The Dean also disclosed that the faculty is working towards establishing a dedicated Faculty Library and called on members to support the project. He revealed that the solar project was funded with ₦1,740,000 drawn from the faculty’s miscellaneous receipts account after wide consultation.

The commissioning took place at the Dean’s office and was attended by principal officers, staff, and other members of the faculty community.
