The investigation committee, as announced in a circular issued by the Secretary, B. D. Jonathan, on Saturday, has called on staff and students with relevant information or personal experiences related to the allegations to come forward. The circular emphasized that while the professor’s identity has not been disclosed, the committee is committed to conducting a thorough and impartial investigation.
The circular stated, “The Vice-Chancellor has set up a committee to investigate the allegations of sexual harassment against a Professor from the Department of Philosophy. To fulfill its mandate, the committee requests all staff and students who have relevant information or have experienced any related incidents to come forward and share their experiences. This will assist the committee in ensuring a comprehensive and fair investigation.”
The university has assured that all reports will be handled with strict confidentiality and that the identities of those who come forward will be protected. The committee's formation reflects the institution's commitment to addressing serious allegations and maintaining a safe and respectful academic environment.
