University of Maiduguri Appoints New University Librarian

The University of Maiduguri has announced the appointment of Dr. Talatu Adamu Rabasa as the new University Librarian, effective June 26, 2025.

The appointment was approved by the Governing Council of the University at its 162nd meeting, following the recommendation of the Selection Board.

Dr. Rabasa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Education, University of Maiduguri. She has over 12 years of academic and professional experience, with notable contributions to the field of Library and Information Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Library Management and Administration from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dr. Rabasa has an impressive academic record, having authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented her work at numerous national and international conferences. Her research interests focus on enhancing digital information systems, promoting knowledge dissemination, and improving library management practices.

As University Librarian, Dr. Rabasa will be responsible for the effective administration and coordination of all library services across the University, including its Colleges, Faculties, Schools, Departments, and Research Units.
