University of Maiduguri Hosts NUC Accreditation Team for Mass Communication
Prof. Mele assured the accreditation team that the Department of Mass Communication would ensure the delivery of quality academic programs following the exercise.
The University of Maiduguri welcomed a delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for an accreditation exercise for its BSc Mass Communication program. The visit, which took place on November 18, 2024, was held at the Senate Annex of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele, represented by the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Yakubu Mukhtar, reaffirmed the university's commitment to upholding high academic and professional standards. He urged the NUC to continue promoting ethical journalism and maintaining discipline within the profession.

The leader of the NUC delegation, Prof. Agber Kwaghkoldo, commended the university for its hospitality and pledged to provide recommendations to enhance its academic activities. He emphasized that the accreditation exercise aimed to uphold professional journalism standards in Nigeria and highlighted the importance of the university's cooperation in achieving this goal.
