Two teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) arrived at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Monday, November 18, 2024, to commence the accreditation exercise for the Building and Quantity Surveying (QS) programmes.

Two teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) arrived at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Monday, November 18, 2024, to commence the accreditation exercise for the Building and Quantity Surveying (QS) programmes.

The teams were welcomed by top university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services) and representative of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Lucian Chukwu; Director of the Academic Planning Unit, Prof. Olusoji Ilori; and other faculty leaders.

The Building accreditation team was led by Prof. Omotayo Aina of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, while the QS team was headed by Prof. Ibrahim Inuwa of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.

During their remarks, the team leaders emphasized that the exercise would strictly adhere to NUC guidelines and was aimed at maintaining academic standards rather than a fault-finding mission. Prof. Aina commended UNILAG’s Department of Building as the most prominent in Nigeria, citing the university’s strategic position in Lagos, the hub of complex constructions.

Responding, Prof. Atsenuwa assured the teams of the university’s commitment to the accreditation process, emphasizing that UNILAG remains dedicated to excellence in education and professional training.

The exercise marks a critical step in reaffirming the academic quality and professional readiness of these programs within Nigeria’s higher education system.
