University of Maiduguri Recognizes Excellence in Architecture

The University of Maiduguri's National Association of Architecture Students (NAAS) chapter recently honored several university officials and students with awards for their outstanding contributions to architectural education and leadership. The ceremony, themed "From Vision to Reality," took place on November 13, 2025, at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, received an Award of Excellence for his exemplary leadership and support to the Department of Architecture and the Faculty of Environmental Studies. Other recipients included Professor Mohammed Ahmed Waziri, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Peter Sale, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Studies, and several departmental staff members.

In addition to recognizing faculty and staff, the event also celebrated student achievements in various categories, including academic excellence, leadership, and design-based awards. Outstanding graduating students such as Gana Mshelia, Nuraini Ibrahim, and Abdullahi Mohammed Abba were among those honored for their exceptional performance and contributions to the department.
