University of Maiduguri Strengthens Community Ties with Kanuri Development Association

The University of Maiduguri's Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, received a courtesy visit from members of the Kanuri Development Association (KUFUTILO) on July 22, 2025. The visit aimed to foster community-based initiatives and strengthen partnerships that uphold cultural values.

Professor Mele commended KUFUTILO's efforts in preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Kanuri people. He reiterated the university's support for initiatives that promote cultural values and community development. Alhaji Ali Usman, President of KUFUTILO, highlighted the association's commitment to preserving and promoting the Kanuri language, traditional customs, and religious values.

This meeting underscores the importance of cultural preservation and community engagement in promoting social cohesion and development. Similar courtesy visits have been paid by other organizations, such as the Local Organizing Committee for the 2025 African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) Conference, which visited the University of Calabar's Vice Chancellor to seek support for their event .
