University of Maiduguri SUG President-Elect Engages NELFUND on Student Loan System
The Student Union Government (SUG) President-Elect of the University of Maiduguri, Comrade Yahaya Maigari, participated in a stakeholder engagement session at the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) Headquarters in Abuja.
The session aimed to discuss the NELFUND loan system, focusing on the application process, disbursement tracking, and the role of student unions in promoting awareness and accountability.
Comrade Maigari emphasized the need for transparency and collaboration to ensure the loan scheme benefits students, particularly those from underserved communities. He expressed gratitude to NELFUND for fostering open dialogue and pledged to work closely with the agency to enhance the loan system's impact.
The session also discussed strategies to boost participation in regions with lower application rates, such as the South-South and South-East. Comrade Maigari called on University of Maiduguri students to engage actively and provide feedback to strengthen the initiative.
