The Department of Music, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has concluded its second semester performance examination for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The examination, held at the Faculty of Arts Auditorium, showcased performances from the Western Chorus, Western Orchestra, African Chorus, African Orchestra, African Dance, Stage Band, Pop Choreography, University Orchestra/Band, and the African Instrumental Ensemble.

Announcing the conclusion of the examinations, the Head of Department, Pastor Dr. Ikedimma Nwabufo Okeke, expressed gratitude to God for the success of the year’s activities. He commended the students’ efforts, describing their participation and dedication as outstanding. According to him, the ensemble performances were in partial fulfillment of the requirements for MUS 174, MUS 117, MUS 272, MUS 344, and MUS 444.

The highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of the maiden yearbook of the Music Students’ Association of Nigeria (MUSAN), titled Chronicles of UNIZIK Musicologists. Pastor Dr. Ikedimma Nwabufo Okeke described the publication as a landmark achievement, capturing the milestones and contributions of both staff and students. He noted that the yearbook represents a commitment to excellence and legacy, as well as a reflection of the department’s growing impact.

The event was attended by senior lecturers and staff of the department, including Prof. Alvan Ikoku Nwamara, Prof. Nnamdi Onuora-Oguno, Prof. Eunice Ibekwe, Prof. Ebele Ojukwu, Prof. Chinyere Esimone, Dr. Amaka Ugoo-Okonkwo (Staff Adviser), and Mr. Ralph Umeoguchukwu (Ensemble Coordinator), among others.
