The Management of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has released an official statement today, regarding the unfortunate death of Miss Isabella Chioma Ajana, a 100-level student in the Faculty of Law.

The announcement follows the submission of an investigation committee's report, prompted by the incident that occurred recently.
The university revealed that the student was rushed to the Medical Centre, where she received attention from doctors, nurses, and security personnel on duty. Initial findings suggest her 3-month stay in the ELMADA Hostel, a facility jointly owned but privately managed, may be connected to the incident. In response, the university has demanded the immediate removal of the hostel supervisor and plans to re-evaluate its relationship with ELMADA, calling for international best practices in student accommodation.
