UNIZIK VC Hosts Awka Communities, Strengthens Stakeholder Ties and Security Collaboration
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Ugochukwu Stanley Bond Anyaehie, has received a delegation from the Association of the Seven Villages of Awka, reaffirming the importance of community partnership in institutional development.

The delegation, led by Charles N. Nwachukwu, comprised representatives from the university’s host communities, including Umuzocha, Umunoke, Amudo, Ifite, Nkwelle, Umuoramma, and Amachalla.
Speaking during the visit, Nwachukwu reiterated the communities’ position as traditional custodians of the land on which the university is situated. He commended the Vice-Chancellor for what he described as visible infrastructural progress within a short period of his administration.
He also reaffirmed the association’s continued support and cooperation, noting that the host communities have historically maintained cordial relationships with successive leadership of the institution.

In his response, Anyaehie described the visit as a demonstration of goodwill and acknowledged the critical role of host communities in ensuring the stability and growth of the university.
He pledged to sustain a mutually beneficial relationship with the communities, emphasising his administration’s openness to dialogue and collaboration.
The Vice-Chancellor also stressed the need for enhanced security cooperation between the university and its host communities, calling for sustained synergy to safeguard lives and property within and around the campus.
Members of the delegation included Chukwuemeka Okoye, Christopher Ndibe, Arinze Charles, and Remy Onyekuba.
