The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) community was filled with emotion and solemn reflection as the remains of former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Igwe, were brought to the Princess Alexandria Auditorium for a final farewell.
Students, staff, family members, and well-wishers gathered in large numbers to pay their last respects to the late professor, whose legacy continues to resonate across the university and beyond. Professor Igwe, who served as Vice-Chancellor from 2019 to 2024, was widely respected for his contributions to soil science, particularly in the area of tropical soil stability, as well as for his leadership within the university system. Many who spoke at the event described him as a committed scholar, a disciplined administrator, and a mentor to countless students and young academics.
