This storm comes two weeks after record-setting rainfall triggered floods in several parts of the country, including Oman, killing at least four people in the UAE and bringing activities in the country to a halt. The flood is said to have claimed the lives of at least 19 others in Oman, including 10 children whose school bus was swept away by the flood waters. The severity of this flood surpasses the records set in previous years, indicating an escalating trend in extreme weather events.

In response to this, the government sent out emergency notifications to people’s phones, warning them to stay at home. This move underscores the severity of the situation and the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens. The Emirates have also shut down airports, restricting all flights.
