Use conferences to establish relationships, FULafia VC tells staff

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has advised the staff of the University to use opportunities offered by conferences to cultivate valuable relationships.  

He said that “relationships are assets that if properly utilised could enhance our life opportunities.”

The vice-chancellor gave the advice when he declared open the 44th National Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA).

The event took place at the Mallam Adamu Adamu Lecture and Office Complex, Permanent site Campus of FULafia.

Abdul Rahman said conferences provided opportunities for people from all walks of life to come together and cross-fertilise ideas, adding: “This is a good opportunity to address issues affecting our nation’s economy, politics and culture.”

He said that knowledge “is about sharing ideas and one of the ways to do so, especially in an academic environment, is through conferences."

While commending the NCA for organising its 44th Annual Conference in FULafia and the Department of Geography of FULafia for hosting its first conference, the vice-chancellor stated that the University was happy to host the conference.

He said the University would continue to develop resources that would enhance teaching, learning and research.

Abdul Rahman called on participants to learn lessons from the conference that would benefit the country and University, in particular.
