Kaduna State University (KASU) hosted a delegation from Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) on Wednesday, 29th May 2024, at its main campus.

The delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, who expressed great pleasure in visiting KASU, acknowledging its well-established reputation. He stated that their mission was to learn from KASU and gain insights into the strategies that have led to its numerous achievements over the years.

Prof. Garba mentioned that KHAIRUN is a newly established university focusing on science-based courses. Therefore, their visit to KASU, particularly to its state-of-the-art library (the best in the North-western region) would significantly support their development.

Representing KASU's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I Musa, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Muhammad Bashir Ali, warmly welcomed the guests and assured them of the full support of KASU’s management, staff, and students in their pursuit of academic excellence. Similarly, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Strategy, Innovation, and Service Delivery, Prof. Helen Afang Andow, emphasized KASU’s commitment to assisting KHAIRUN and outlined the university's new strategic plan focused on research and teaching excellence, community engagement, student-centeredness, and facility management and upgrades.

Prof. Auwal Farouk Abdulsalam, the Director of Academic Planning, highlighted KASU’s accomplishments over the past two decades, including the graduation of over 70,000 students, expansion to 6 campuses, 7 Colleges, 3 Institutes, 4 Research Centers, 2 Schools, 15 Faculties, 59 Undergraduate Programs, 113 Postgraduate Programs, and 15 Part-Time Programs. The University Registrar Barr. Samira Balarabe also welcomed the guests, reaffirming the university’s support and the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve academic goals.

The visit included a tour of KASU's library, led by the University Librarian, Dr Umar Babangida Dangani, where the delegation received presentations from the Library department heads, showcasing the library's extensive resources.

By the end of the visit, Prof. Garba and his team expressed their satisfaction with the university library and committed to implementing the knowledge gained. They also extended an invitation to KASU to visit KHAIRUN in the future to observe the progress they hope to achieve.

The team from KHAIRUN also included Malam Yusuf, Registrar; Dr Naja’atu Bala Rabiu, Bursar; Malam Nazir Muhammad, University Librarian; Bilal Dahiru Tijjani, Head of Corporate Affairs and Marketing/PRO; and Amina Yusuf Umar, Head of ICT. Other members were Ibrahim Liman, Alkasim Hamisu Abdul, and Abubakar Shehu Abubakar.
