World Bank Delegate Verifies Milestone 2 at ACETEL, NOUN

A delegate from the World Bank visited the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL) at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) headquarters in Abuja for a physical verification of Milestone 2. The visit aimed to confirm the successful procurement and installation of critical equipment for various advanced facilities, including those for Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Management Information Systems, Short Courses Digital Laboratories, and Tele/Video Conference Meeting/Learning Software.

Earlier, in the ACETEL Conference Hall, the centre’s director, Prof. Grace Jokthan, and other team members welcomed the World Bank delegate, Mr. Wunmi Oloyede. Prof. Jokthan explained the purpose of the visit was to verify the achievements of Milestone 2, highlighting the elimination of duplicated equipment in the laboratories to enhance efficiency.

Mr. Oloyede expressed satisfaction with the quality of NOUN’s learning materials and the standard of ACETEL’s facilities, noting that other conventional universities are adopting similar standards. He called for the VC’s support to expedite the ongoing building project, which is significantly behind schedule.

Following the conference, Jokthan and the ACETEL team led Mr. Oloyede on a tour of the labs to showcase the improved IT infrastructure and installation areas. The delegate interacted with students who demonstrated the use of the new equipment.

The successful verification of Milestone 2 sets the stage for the next phase of the project, reinforcing ACETEL’s position as a leader in technology-enhanced learning and research in Africa.
