The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has established a Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) at the University of Ibadan (UI), marking a major step in promoting innovation, research commercialization, and intellectual property (IP) development within the institution.

The University of Ibadan was among the select Nigerian universities designated by WIPO to host a TISC, recognizing the institution’s longstanding commitment to research excellence and innovation.

The Centre, which is domiciled at the Centre for Intellectual Property Protection and Commercialization (CIPPaC), was formally inaugurated by the Country Director of WIPO, Nigeria Office, Dr. Olwatobiloba Moody, following the provision of all necessary materials required for its take-off.

The Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) is designed to bridge the gap between innovation and commercialization by helping researchers, inventors, and entrepreneurs unlock their creative potential, protect and manage their intellectual property rights, and create value through innovation-driven enterprises.

Through the TISC network, users will have access to specialized databases, tools, training programmes, and WIPO learning resources that support IP management and innovation. The Centre is also expected to foster collaboration and networking among researchers, innovators, and industry stakeholders.
