In a remarkable feat of perseverance, Demarcus Tinsley, a young man who faced a severe car accident resulting in facial injuries, has successfully earned a Criminal Justice degree from Grambling State University in the United States.

Demarcus, whose car went under a tractor in the 2019 accident, recounted the harrowing experience. Despite sustaining significant injuries, he managed to dial 911 before losing consciousness.

“I woke up and I didn’t see myself, but I could feel myself under something. My first instinct was to just drive myself away from the tractor-trailer, and once I drove out from under there I got out of the car and I ended up calling 911. That was my first instinct,” he shared with KBTS.

Undeterred by the challenges posed by the accident, Demarcus pursued higher education and successfully graduated from Grambling State University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Grambling State University’s Facebook page highlighted Demarcus's determination to return to school after undergoing multiple facial reconstruction surgeries and the process of relearning fundamental skills.

“If anyone out there is going through something like this, I just want them to know, stay positive, keep your head up because it’s always a light at the end of the tunnel,” Dermacus said.Acknowledging his achievement, Demarcus credited his family, teammates, and professors for their unwavering support and belief in his capabilities.
