In a remarkable achievement, Khaya Njumbe, a 15-year-old prodigy from Gary, has earned four degrees from two distinguished U.S. universities before completing high school.

Khaya seamlessly managed both high school and college classes at 21st Century Charter School, part of the Geo Academies charter system. He navigated the curriculum effectively, earning credits simultaneously for degrees from Ivy Tech University and Indiana Northwest University.

Despite facing skepticism about his ambitious goals, Khaya persevered. He earned credits from Ivy Tech University before enrolling at Indiana University, culminating in the completion of three associate’s degrees from Ivy Tech and a bachelor’s degree from Indiana Northwest University.

A coalition of Black leaders in Indianapolis recognized Khaya's outstanding accomplishment, alongside his friend who achieved a similar feat. The State of Indiana celebrated their dedication to education at a special event.

Khaya's motivation stems from his passion for learning and the desire to inspire others. “Be confident in what you want to do in the future. Set your goals now and execute,” he encouraged.

Balancing academic achievements with childhood pursuits, Khaya emphasized his ability to manage time effectively, still enjoying activities like playing video games. Looking toward the future, he aspires to enter the medical field and become an orthopedic surgeon.
