42 First Class Graduates Emerge from Adekunle Ajasin University

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, celebrated the academic achievements of its 2020/2021 graduating class at the 12th Convocation Press Conference held at the university’s Business School in Akure.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige, announced that a total of 5,249 students will be honored this year. Among them, 42 students achieved First Class honors, 1,088 graduated with Second Class Upper Division, 2,264 with Second Class Lower Division, and 605 with Third Class. The Faculty of Education leads with 1,202 graduates, followed by Science, Arts, Social Sciences, Administration and Management Sciences, Agriculture, Law, the Institute of Part-Time, and the Institute of Education. In addition, 180 students are receiving postgraduate degrees, with 24 in the PhD category.

The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the university’s commitment to enhancing the integrity and quality of its academic programs through continuous staff training, re-invention of programs, and the establishment of a broad research agenda. All of the university’s academic programs are accredited by the National Universities Commission, and its professional programs, including Law, Accounting, Banking and Finance, and Geology, hold accreditation from their respective professional bodies.

Professor Ige expressed confidence in the graduates, stating that they are equipped with essential skills and entrepreneurial competencies that make them significant contributors to the nation’s and world’s developmental trajectory. He also emphasized the university’s commitment to internationalization and benchmarking operations with global best practices, and its ongoing efforts to foster partnerships and networks with sister universities both locally and abroad.

As part of the convocation ceremony, numerous academic prizes, endowed by distinguished individuals and corporate organizations, will be awarded to outstanding graduates who have excelled in their respective fields.
