AAUA Convocates 42 First-Class, Best Graduating student

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olugbenga Ige disclosed that 42 out of 5,249 students who graduated from Adekunle Ajisin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State in 12th convocation ceremony earned First Class honour, during his address at the ceremony held on the university’s campus on Saturday.

The Overall Best Graduate, Abidemi Ojo, who graduated from the Department of Linguistics and Languages with a CGPA of 4.87, said he defied all odds and remained focused academically.

He said poverty should not be an excuse for academic failure and every hardship that people undergo in life should prepare them for future success.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Visitor of the varsity, in his address commended the Vice Chancellor and management of the institution for churning out productive graduates, who he said are making tremendous contributions to the state and the nation at large.

Akeredolu, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Education, Mr. Femi Agagu, appreciated the role of the varsity in staff training and skilled personnel development, also describing products of the institution as being resourceful and agents of positive change in the state and beyond.

He further acknowledged the institution’s vision to be a leading institution in research, commending recent successful research endeavours by both staff and students of the varsity.

The governor, therefore, urged them not to relent in their efforts toward research, noting that the current challenges facing the nation require substantial scholarly contributions to navigate uncertain paths.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing essential support and encouragement to state-owned institutions, empowering them to fulfil their founding vision and mission statements, expressing pride in AAUA being consistently rated the Best State University in Nigeria within the past four years.

Governor Akeredolu, therefore, appealed to philanthropists, stakeholders and prosperous community members to collaborate with the government in expanding infrastructural growth within educational institutions across the state.

The Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Dr. Tunji Abayomi while delivering his address at the event, declared that the Council remains steadfast to further accomplishments in the varsity.

The Pro-Chancellor ascribed the successes recorded by the institution to collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, saying “Recognizing the synergistic collaboration among the Universitys leadership, dedicated staff, and supportive host communities, we have successfully cultivated an environment of stability, peace, and progressive growth at AAUA.”

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ige, in his address, admonished the fresh graduates to be good ambassadors of the institution.

Reeling out the achievements of the varsity, Prof. Ige disclosed that his administration made efforts to enhance the University’s standing, besides the commitment of Management and staff to excellence through continuous staff training and re-invention of academic programmes as well as establishment of a broad research agenda.

He also disclosed various Memoranda of Understanding(MoU) signed by the varsity with reputable foreign organizations and universities to foster internationalization and benchmarking with global best practices.

Prof. Ige, therefore, assured all stakeholders of the University’s dedication to excellence and its ambition to secure a prominent place on the international pedestal.

He, however, affirmed the University’s focus on the future, building institutions, erecting structures, and pursuing a 21st Century University that aligns with the vision of its founding fathers.
