Emmanuel Oluwadola, the incumbent president of the Nigeria Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has clinched the top spot in the prestigious Our Punch Years book essay competition for Mass Communication students and campus journalists across the nation.

The announcement came on Monday, April 8th, 2024, as Oluwadola triumphed over 22 other talented participants with his insightful review of a chapter from the book titled "Undying Flame of Passion."

His outstanding achievement not only highlights his dedication to excellence but also underscores the academic prowess and intellectual depth prevalent among AAUA's student community. 

Precious Umeh, representing the Union of Campus Journalists at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), emerged as the first runner-up with her captivating review titled "Inspiration for the Future Generations of Reporters, Editors."

Meanwhile, the second runner-up position was shared by remarkable talents from various institutions. John Praise Oluwadarasimi from Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, delved into "Invaluable Media Career Lessons," while Abigail Chioma Mbah from Nnamdi Azikwe University, Akwa, explored the "Importance of Training and Internship for Journalists." Additionally, John Eriomala from the University of Ibadan dissected "Hypnos and The Soldiers of Good Fortune."

In recognition of their exceptional contributions, the first prize winner will receive N50,000, the second prize winner N30,000, and the joint third prize winners N20,000 each.

Furthermore, all participants will be rewarded with both e-copies and hard copies of the book for their respective departments or organizations. Additionally, their essays will be compiled into an e-book, acknowledging the quality of insights they provided. Participants will also receive data reimbursement for their valuable participation.
