Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro, Rector of Abia State Polytechnic, pledges to elevate the institution among Nigeria's top five, highlighting prudent resource management and campus improvements.
In a recent declaration, Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro, the Rector of Abia State Polytechnic, has pledged to steer the institution to become one of the top five polytechnics in Nigeria. Dr. Okoro made this ambitious assertion during the 358th Academic Board meeting held at the Polytechnic’s auditorium in Aba, Abia State.
Under his administration, which commenced barely two months ago, Dr. Okoro emphasized the prudent management of funds as a catalyst for the noticeable improvements witnessed within the institution. He credited the cooperation and support of both staff members and management for the positive changes experienced in such a short span of time.

Key among the transformations highlighted by Dr. Okoro is the restoration of power supply to the campus, courtesy of the Aba Power Company. This development is projected to provide approximately 18 hours of uninterrupted electricity, consequently reducing the institution's expenditure on diesel and power generator maintenance significantly.
Moreover, Dr. Okoro outlined plans to allocate the funds saved from these utility expenses towards compensating part-time lecturers. He also assured a comprehensive review of the lecturers' salary structure to align with prevailing economic conditions in Nigeria.
Expressing his commitment to achieving his vision, Dr. Okoro stated, "I made a promise to God and the Governor of the state, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, that in the shortest possible time, Abia State Polytechnic Aba under my watch will be among the five best Polytechnics in Nigeria."
Furthermore, he underscored the importance of cleanliness in fostering an inviting campus environment. Initiatives such as engaging professional cleaners to maintain the premises have already led to noticeable enhancements in the campus aesthetics.
