ABSU Student Union Government Addresses Security Concerns in Hostels
President Comr. Okezie Almond Kezirim took immediate action upon receiving the reports, directing the Director of Welfare, Comr. Onuoha Felix, and the Public Relations Officer, Comr. Ohanusi Victor, to provide a comprehensive report on the matter.
The Student Union Government (SUG) of Abia State University (ABSU) has swiftly responded to concerns raised by students regarding disturbances and alleged cases of burglary in university hostels during late hours of the night. This proactive response follows reports from concerned students who highlighted incidents occurring while they are asleep.

President Comr. Okezie Almond Kezirim took immediate action upon receiving the reports, directing the Director of Welfare, Comr. Onuoha Felix, and the Public Relations Officer, Comr. Ohanusi Victor, to provide a comprehensive report on the matter. Subsequently, he mobilized SUG executives for an unscheduled visit to the university's security unit, headed by the Chief Security Officer.

During the visit, the Chief Security Officer briefed the SUG executives on the incidents and outlined measures already being implemented to prevent recurrence. President Kezirim emphasized the need for proactive security measures to ensure the safety of students within the school environment, stressing that such incidents should not be tolerated.
"I cannot allow these incidents to happen anymore within our school environment. The miscreants must be stamped out once and for all," President Kezirim stated, prompting an agreement from the Chief Security Officer to enhance security protocols.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Levi Nwokocha, was also briefed on the security situation. The SUG assured students that their welfare and safety remain its utmost priority, pledging that security measures within the hostels would be reinforced immediately.
